201-207 Albert Street (Cnr Beith Street), BRUNSWICK

The site in Brunswick was a challenge.  Previously occupied by the Australia Textile Printing Co. in Albert Street, it was an industrial site bordering traditional residential areas.  Any redevelopement would have to meet the strict approval of both the City of Moreland and surrounding neighbours.

With Suburban housing prices skyrocketing in the area, there was a need for more affordable and "new age" townhouses and apartments.  Over an extended period of time, Deal worked with Council and the community to develop a viable Design Development Overlay.  Finally the 4,500 square metre site was ready to be re-born.

The large scale residential project provided occupants with an environmentally friendly design, 5 star energy, re-use of stormwater and natural and recyclable building materials.  At the same time, the development complemented the existing ambience of the area and Brunswick lifestyle, and Sydney Road shops and transport only 200 metres away.

Deal employed architects Clarke Hopkins Clarke to design the stunning one and two bedroom apartments, three bedroom townhouses and four retail shops.

From factory to eco-friendly living in the heart of Brunswick, the outcome has been acclaimed as a brilliant success for Deal Corporation.
