Polaris - the brightest star in the Northern Sky. 
3083 - the postcode of Bundoora.

Polaris 3083 is a mixed use town centre for residential, commercial and retail services.  This $200 million development will be an exciting, new and innovative neighbourhood town centre.

It is based on a partnership between the State Government’s sustainable development agency VicUrban and Linaker Developments - a joint venture development with Deal Corporation.  “VicUrban is extremely pleased to enter into this relationship with Deal Corporation” Pru Sanderson, VicUrban CEO.

The aim of this 11 hectare (26 acres) development at Plenty Road Bundoora is to establish a vibrant, high quality retail and business destination for residents of the surrounding area - Lancaster Gate, LaTrobe University and Bundoora.

The retail component will create up to 450 jobs plus a further 400 indirect jobs in the wider community.  It will be complemented by commercial buildings offering an additional 200 jobs.

The project will boast affordable and sustainable medium density housing, aged care, commercial office buildings, a local Safeway supermarket, a shopping village and multi-purpose Community Centre, all whilst retaining the existing heritage buildings.  This town centre will meet the changing needs of the community.

Stage 1 Retail Precinct
The main trade area will have a target population of approximately 13,260 by 2011 (Safeway Supermarket Assessment).  Polaris 3083 retail precinct will be utilised by residents in Springthorpe, Lancaster Gate and Bundoora.  This trade area does not include La Trobe University, which at present has 28,000 students and 5,000 staff (Australian Government  - Department of Education).

Polaris 3083 is now leasing Stage 1.  This retail precinct will be the hub of the entire project and will incorporate all the fundamental services that a town centre requires.

Deal Corporation and VicUrban believe that Polaris 3083 will be the premier development of North Melbourne and will create a hub where the community will meet.
